Perkbox Top Tips

Where to start?

When deciding what information you want on your Culture hub, the first thing you need to do is answer some key questions. After that, the execution is simple. You won’t waste time fumbling around a complicated backend—we promise!

Question One: What’s the most important thing (as a business) you need your employees to know?

Are there certain things your employees always need to be informed about? Examples might include a weekly company update, OKRs, goals, or strategy.

Question Two: What are your employees always asking about?

If you're constantly being asked where something is by different employees, that’s a sign that the platform or resource is hard to find. Take note of what people request—if the same thing comes up multiple times, it’s a good idea to include it.

Question Three: What systems or platforms do you use that need to be accessible?

We’re talking about the systems your people need access to in order to perform their jobs. Examples include HRIS systems, payroll and intranet.

Question Four: What are your important company milestones?

When are your company awards or key social events? When is your busy season or popular holiday periods? It’s important to include some form of company calendar, even if it’s just done quarterly.

Question Five: Are there any HR initiatives that need more explanation?

For example, how you vote for your Employee of the Month, or any campaigns for a charity donation drive?

Question Six: Do you have any tips and tricks you want to highlight regularly?

For instance, you could highlight tips from different business departments or even feature various health and safety tips.

Question Seven: What are your values and how do you want to weave them into your initiatives?

Do you want your values to be front and centre, with each tile representing a value? For example, if your value is Unity, this could represent your weekly update.

Your tools

Once you’ve answered these questions, the next step is understanding what tools you have to execute your vision. On Culture hub, you have tiles that serve as the front facade, connecting to three formats:

One: URL Link

Any external link will work. We recommend linking to systems that your people need to access, like your HRIS for applying for leave or your company intranet.

Two: Video

You can link to YouTube or Vimeo. This is a great way to showcase how-to videos, employee or client stories, or even share senior leadership vlogs.

Three: File upload

Not everyone can access documents stored in the cloud, particularly employees without company email addresses. Uploading documents directly to Culture hub is a great way to make information accessible to everyone.

Four: Notifications

Want to make sure your employees don’t miss out on key information? Enable notifications when you create or update a Culture hub tile. This will come through to their email, as a push notification, or in the platform notification centre.

The layout

You have the content you want to display and the mechanism to do so. The final step is deciding what goes where. After answering those questions, we recommend that you rank them in order of importance. Then, lay out the tiles starting with the two most important at the top and go down from there.

Using this as your starting point, you can adapt as you receive feedback from employees. The best part is that if you want to change something, it’s simple and only requires a few clicks.

Top tip from our employee engagement lead

“Have a 'Perk of the Week' or 'Recognition of the Week' tile on Culture hub. Use the share button on your favourite perk of the week or a standout recognition and link it to a tile. It’s a fantastic way to highlight fresh, new ways to save and showcase employees who are doing great work. Plus, it’ll keep your employees circling back to the platform for more.” - Laura Loyd
